Writer in Residence

Ms. Carr’s fifth class were delighted to participate in the Writer in Residence sessions provided by Meath Libraries under the Meath County Council Creative Ireland program during September and November. We were lucky to welcome Juliette Saumande to our school to guide the children in writing and illustrating their very own “Myselfopedia” books.  Juliette is a passionate children’s  author who has published over forty books in both English and French.  As part of the program the children were invited to visit Trim library on the 21st of November where Juliette hosted a writers workshop and they unveiled their finished books. While there Juliette gave the class an exclusive sneak preview of the cover of her latest, soon to be published book all about Dublin.  As part of the visit Meath library donated a copy of Juliette’s book Chop Chop Mad Cap to our class library and Juliette wrote a lovely inscription inside as shown below.  We thoroughly enjoyed the Writer in Residence sessions and wish Juliette all the best with her books!
